SUMMER READING PROGRAM

Summertime and the Reading was Easy!

Patrons of all ages enjoyed reading at the library this summer.  A record number of over 4000 items were borrowed in the month of July.  The Summer Reading Program participants put many obstacles in Miss Rhoda’s way by reading lots of books, but with the help of a cooperative wind, she was able to make it to the Teddy Bear Picnic for a final party.  (see photo below)  The library partnered with the Recreation Department to make the summer reading program available to summer campers one day a week. In all, over 100 children joined in the weekly workshops for songs, crafts and of course great stories.

In August, almost 200 people came and enjoyed at terrific show, the Magic of Norman, which was made possible by a Kids, Books and the Arts grant.  This grant is sponsored by the NH State Library, Byrne Foundation, CHILIS, Cogswell Benevolent Trust and the NH Library Association.  All of the library magic books are out right now.

We would like to thank the following businesses for supplying the popular reading incentives; Demmon’s Store, Golicks Dairy Bar, Liars Paradise, Movie Scene, Rebecca’s Ice Cream Shoppe and Spinelli Cinema.
